Environment
Enschede is, with approximately 156,000 inhabitants, the largest city in the eastern part of the Netherlands and a city in full motion. It has a large university (University of Twente) with its own little Silicon Valley called Business and Science Park. In the field of innovation, expertise, communication and medical technology, Enschede belongs to the national forefront.
Colourful city
Enschede is a colourful city with a local government who makes it their serious business to put Enschede on the map. This has resulted in many small and big activities for people to get a taste of the different flavours this city has to offer, such as music events, dance events, theatre and cabaret, (inter) national food festivals, and many more.
Twente landscape
In the typical Twente landscapes near the city you will find authentic villages. There are small towns with rich a past, church villages and castles. History, art and culture can be found in museums, galleries and theatres.
Inhabitants
Enschede has inhabitants from a lot of different cultures. The approximately 450 students of the International Institute (ITC) come from 80 different countries.
The broad range of inhabitants is reflected in the different styles of housing. Single large villa’s, eco-homes in an environmental setting, luxury penthouses in the city centre, apartments and renovated workers homes. Another benefit is the significantly lower housing prices in Enschede compared to those in the west of the country.
