Management of MECAL
Enschede (The Netherlands), September 11, 2009 - Richard Jungman (42) will be the new managing director of MECAL BV. The present managing director, Anton de Roest (47), will fully focus on developing new products and services. This is a logical step in the professional development of MECAL. Jungman has experience in managing and developing knowledge and technology driven organizations, for example Thermo Electron in the U.S. and the Dutch consultants and engineers DHV and recently Advin. Under the management of De Roest, MECAL has developed into a leading player and consultant with leading expertise in various fields in the past 20 years.
According to Jungman, the expectations for short and long term are very positive, despite of cyclical fluctuations, because MECAL has invested in the development of state of the art technology and engineering and an excellent staff. Within all fields of expertise these developments are paying off. Typical examples are the separation of MECAL expertise in the windmarket: Wind Farm Services that engineers and manages turbines and windfarms, and MECAL Wind Turbine Development that is in development of turbines together with manufacturers, mostly abroad. Besides that, ATS, a joint venture that MECAL has initiated, has a working turbine demo made of steel and concrete that is 180 meters high. But the separate approaches within the semiconductor industry result in several niche markets as well, like MECAL Focal, developing cutting edge optics and vision recognition instruments. A good example is the Retinascope, a diagnostic tool that is designed for applications in precision measurements in medical optical science. Therefore the addition of a managing director and a change in management and control is very organic, it enables further development of the company, Jungman said.
