MECAL installs Hummingbird platforms at Delft University of Technology
MECAL announces the installation of two Hummingbird platforms at the department of Bionanoscience at Delft University of Technology. The Bionanoscience department will use the platforms to provide isolation of floor vibrations in research that involves the manipulation of single molecules of DNA, proteins and other nanoscale-objects.
The Hummingbird active vibration isolation technology is an enhanced version of the classic inertial control concept. It applies direct position sensors for measuring motion of the platform in combination with a patented solution to solve the “tilt-to-horizontal-coupling” problem. As a result, the Hummingbird technology provides unprecedented suppression of floor vibrations, even at low frequencies. A detailed description of the Hummingbird technology is accessible via this internet link
The performance of the Hummingbird technology is not limited by floor stiffness. This means that it can be applied in upper floor environments. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the Hummingbird technology, our standardized platforms or technology design-in solution.
